The UK government is to provide £86 million ($112 million) in funding to support British firms in developing medical technologies.

The money is aimed at enabling small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) to develop and test new technologies within the country’s public healthcare provider, the National Health Service (NHS).

The UK boasts a thriving technology and research sector, led by the “Silicon Roundabout” tech cluster in London, and a number of research and hi-tech innovation firms based between Oxford, Cambridge and the capital, the so-called “Golden Triangle”.
