A new survey from NORC at the University of Chicago finds that two-thirds of adults in the USA do not intend to get the flu vaccine this season.
The poll, which included more than 1,000 adults, found that while 43% of adults had gotten a flu vaccination already, and another 14% had a firm intention of doing so, 41% said they would not get the flu shot.
The survey will raise concerns among healthcare providers and lawmakers that, despite continued investment from the pharmaceutical industry in novel vaccines, a lack of support for regular vaccinations could limit herd immunity and restrict efficacy.
