Pfizer has sued IVAX Corp and its subsidiary Zenith GoldlinePharmaceuticals, claiming patent infringement of Zoloft (sertraline), reports Bloomberg. Zenith filed for US approval to market a generic version last year, but said it would not begin manufacture or commercialization before one of Zoloft's patents expires in 2005. Pfizer says a patent covering Zoloft as an anxiolytic expires in 2009, while another covering a crystalline form expires in 2012.
