Newron out-licenses evenamide to Eisai unit EA Pharma

Italy-based CNS specialist Newron Pharmaceuticals (SIX: NWRN) has entered into a license agreement with EA Pharma, part of Japan’s Eisai (TYO: 4523), to develop, manufacture and commercialize Newron’s innovative modulator of the excessive release of glutamate, evenamide, in Japan and other designated territories.

In exchange for full rights in the licensed territories, EA Pharma will pay Newron up to a maximum total of 117 million euros ($122.5 million), including an upfront payment of 44 million euros, financial contributions to its upcoming Phase III one-year study to be performed outside of the licensed territories, regulatory and commercialization milestones, and tiered royalties up to a double-digit percentage of net sales for evenamide.
