New US legislation has ended the 24-month waiting period for Medicarecoverage for patients suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. From July 1, patients now only have a statutory five-month wait before receiving both hospitalization (Part A) coverage and physician services (Part B) under Medicare.
