Merz & Co's memantine in vascular dementia
Merz & Co and Neurobiological Technologies' memantine has been shown tosignificantly improve the cognitive performance of patients with mild-to-moderate vascular dementia, according to Phase III data. Memantine, which has demonstrated a similar effect in pivotal trials involving Alzheimer's disease patients (Marketletter February 28), is also being evaluated in pain associated with diabetic neuropathy and in AIDS-related dementia.
