Merck KGaA ‘back on the growth path’

Germany’s Merck KGaA (MRK: DE) returned to profitable growth in 2024 and delivered on its guidance for the year.

The life sciences company revealed its annual financial results for 2024 alongside those for the final quarter of the year, as well as providing its predictions for the year ahead. Shares in Merck moved 1% higher during the first half of Thursday’s trading.

Net sales across the group grew by nearly 1% to 21.2 billion euros ($22.9 billion) over the year - driven by a strong fourth quarter - and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) rose by more than 5% to 5.8 billion euros. The company’s earnings were broadly in line with analysts’ estimates.
