Although drugs consumption in Lithuania is well below the European Union average, figures reported in the Baltic Business News show that the country is showing a 15% annual increase of pharmaceutical sales in value terms.
The report adds that the rise is caused by the significant increase in purchasing power of Lithuanians and may reflect trade growth with other EU countries, following accession of the former Soviet-occupied state to EU membership in 2004.
