India has become the largest supplier of drugs to the Russian market, overtaking Germany, which had been in the lead for the last two years, reports The Pharma Letter’s Russia correspondent.
According to data of the Russian pharma analytics agency RNC Pharma, in 2023, some 293.9 million packages of Indian drugs were supplied to the Russian market, which is almost 3% higher than a year earlier. The increase in supplies came after three years of decline.
As for Germany, in 2023 it reduced its supplies by 20%, to 238.7 million packages. Other key supplying countries include France - 149.3 million packages, Hungary (112.5 million packages - +11.6%) and Belarus. The UK reduced its drug supplies to Russia last year by 10.5%, to 63.2 million packages, while in case of Poland the decline was 16.5%, to 60.9 million.
