China pharma excipients market to reach $8.9 billion in 2017

Currently, pharmaceutical excipients account for about 2%-3% of China's total output value of pharmaceutical preparations.

The Chinese pharmaceutical excipient market size reached about 26.35 billion renminbi ($4.3 billion) in 2013 and is expected to be 54.83 billion renminbi ($8.9 billion) in 2017, according to a new report added to the offering of Research and Markets.

Pharmaceutical excipients refer to adjuvants and additives used for production of pharmaceuticals and compounding of prescriptions. In addition to active ingredients, pharmaceutical excipients are also contained in pharmaceutical preparations after reasonable safety assessment.
