Alliance prevails in competition case

UK-based Alliance Pharma (AIM: APH) has successfully appealed against a Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) ruling that had found the company guilty of breaching competition law.

The UK case date backs to May 2019, when Alliance was one of four companies accused of having anti-competitive agreements in place in relation to the sale of prescription prochlorperazine.

This out-licensed anti-sickness medicine was in Alliance’s pharmaceutical portfolio from June 2013 until July 2018. Alliance claimed that it had no involvement or control over, and did not benefit from, the in-market pricing of the product, saying it was entirely managed by the distributor.
