FDA And EPA Join Forces To Stamp Out CFCs
- The US Food and Drug Administration and the Environmental ProtectionAgency have collaborated in formulating a strategy to phase out the use of chlorofluorocarbons in metered-dose inhalers, used in the treatment of asthma. This is the last remaining commercial use of CFCs, say the agencies, and should be replaced with alternatives, eg 3M's Proventil-HFA (salbutamol).
