Expert's optimism at ‘maturing’ of cell and gene therapy field

Where once the state of play in the cell and gene therapy space was mostly limited to hope and hype around what might be to come, this is increasingly being replaced by action, on-market therapies and genuine expectation of reaching patients—provided companies can avoid some of the sector’s notorious pitfalls.

This mood was in evidence at the European Cell and Gene Therapy Summit 2024 in London, UK, on Tuesday, an event held by Charles River Laboratories (NYSE: CRL) and hosted by the company’s Ramin Baghirzade, Global Head Commercial – Gene Therapy CDMO Services.

Dr Baghirzade told The Pharma Letter that he had noted plenty of confidence in the sector among colleagues at recent events.
