Danes losing out to Scandinavian neighbours on innovative meds access

Danish patients are being offered fewer innovative treatments than Norwegians and Swedes, a new estimate from the Danish Medicines Council shows.

A calculation from the Medical Council shows that out of 73 medicines that have been assessed in all three countries since January 2021 and until August 2024, 59 have been recommended in Sweden, 57 in Norway and just 51 have been recommended in Denmark.

The finding has been described as unacceptable by the Danish Association of the Pharmaceutical Industry (Lif).
