CalciMedica moves towards pivotal acute pancreatitis trial

28 June 2024

Californian company CalciMedica (Nasdaq: CALC) has announced positive topline data from CARPO, a Phase IIb trial evaluating Auxora in acute pancreatitis (AP) with accompanying systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS).

Auxora, CalciMedica's lead clinical compound, is a potent and selective small molecule inhibitor of Orai1-containing CRAC channels that is being developed for use in patients with acute inflammatory and immunologic illnesses.

This trial established a dose response for Auxora across multiple endpoints, identified both the target patient population and the likely drug dose for a pivotal trial, and re-affirmed the candidate's safety profile and tolerability as seen in prior clinical trials.
