BTG And GenVec To Develop HSV Gene Delivery Systems For PD
- BTG plc has signed an agreement with GenVec to develop herpes simplex virus-based gene delivery systems, in order to deliver genes to the brain to treat conditions including Parkinson's disease. An HSV was chosen for its ability to permanently invade cells in the neuronal system, and was subsequently modified to prevent it replicating. Clinical trials are expected to start soon.
