BRIEF—RFK Jr nomination to head HHS clears first hurdle

US Senate lawmakers on Tuesday morning voted to advance Robert F Kennedy Jr's nomination to lead the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

The 14-13 decision now sends his nomination to the Senate floor for a final vote.

The recommendation for President Donald Trump's controversial HHS Secretary was not a shoo-in, according to media reports.
