BRIEF—China plans for buying controlled imported drugs

24 December 2018

China’s government has said it  plans to set up a pilot cross-border trade zone in Beijing to allow Chinese people to buy highly controlled imported products such as cancer drugs.

China's current law bans the selling prescriptions online in the country and buying prescription medicines from abroad.

It also caps a single cross-border purchase at 5,000 renminbi ($725) for consumers who want to enjoy lower taxes.
