BRIEF—AstraZeneca’s market cap now exceeds over £200 billion

UK pharma major AstraZeneca has become the only current UK-lis­ted company to reach a £200 billion ($256.4 billion) valuation, the Financial Times reported today, noting that it is a vindication of the company’s bet on developing a leading portfolio of cancer drugs.

AstraZeneca’s shares rose 1.1% yesterday pushing its  a market capitalization up to £200.3 billion.

Its stock has risen almost 20% this year, after chief executive Sir Pascal Soriot outlined plans in May for the company to reach $80 billion in annual revenue by 2030.
