UK-based COVID-19 vaccine project underway

UK-based cell and gene therapy company Oxford Biomedica (LSE: OXB) has joined a consortium at Oxford University working on a COVID-19 vaccine.

Led by the university’s Jenner Institute, the project aims to rapidly develop, scale-up and manufacture a potential vaccine candidate called ChAdOx1 nCov-19.

It is one of the leading vaccine candidates currently in development globally, and is expected to be the UK’s first COVID-19 vaccine in clinical trials, later this month.
