Sanofi sues Sarepta over alleged patent infringement

French drugmaker Sanofi’s (Euronext: SAN) Genzyme subsidiary has launched legal proceedings against US biotech Sarepta Therapeutics (Nasdaq: SRPT).

The lawsuit—filed in the US District Court for the District of Delaware—accuses Sarepta of infringing two of Genzyme’s patents in its manufacture and sale of Elevidys (delandistrogene moxeparvovec-rokl), a gene therapy for the treatment of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD).

Genzyme is seeking a jury trial and damages.
