Japan’s regenerative medicines firm ReproCELL (Jasdaq: 4978) has announced the acquisition of Scotland-based company Biopta. Financial terms of the transaction, which is expected to close on December 10, were not disclosed.
The acquisition will also see an immediate investment to expand Biopta’s range of contract research services. Biopta, which will continue to operate from its headquarters in Glasgow, aims to grow its workforce to 30 over the next three years and Biopta’s management views the synergies within the ReproCELL Group of companies as key to its growth ambitions.
The company has up to now been involved in the global development of research reagent products and cell products through its use of cutting edge techniques involving human iPS cells, and continues healthy business expansion in said market, which is showing remarkable development.
