Proteon practically worthless after trial flop

The failure of its lead product in a Phase III trial has led the share price of Proteon Therapeutics (Nasdaq: PRTO) to collapse.

Proteon announced results from PATENCY‐2, its trial of investigational vonapanitase in patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing creation of a radiocephalic fistula for hemodialysis, on Thursday.

PATENCY-2 did not come close to meeting its co‐primary endpoints of fistula use for hemodialysis and secondary patency.
