Pfizer pays $25 million for stake in CRISPR genome-editing company Caribou

US pharma giant Pfizer (NYSE: PFE) has made a $25 million equity investment in Caribou Biosciences (Nasdaq: CRBU), a Californian CRISPR genome-editing company.

Caribou boasts that its genome-editing platform, including its Cas12a chRDNA technology, enables superior precision to develop cell therapies that are armored to potentially improve antitumor activity.

"Pfizer’s investment in Caribou highlights the potential of our clinical programs"The Berkeley firm will use the proceeds of the investment to advance CB-011, an immune cloaked allogeneic CAR-T cell therapy currently being evaluated in the CaMMouflage Phase I trial in relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma.
