Novartis stands up to Amgen's Aimovig action

A bitter dispute has broken out over Aimovig (erenumab), the leader in the new class of migraine treatments.

Aimovig, a calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) receptor antagonist, was approved in the USA, Europe and in various other markets last year.

Although it was originally discovered by Amgen, in September 2015 the US biotech company agreed to a co-development and co-commercialization deal with Swiss pharma giant, Novartis (NOVN: VX).
