NICE recommends Dupixent for severe asthma

The UK's National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has issued a Final Appraisal Determination (FAD) recommending Dupixent (dupilumab), as an add-on maintenance treatment for severe asthma.

This means that French drugmaker Sanofi’s (Euronext: SAN) biologic treatment will be routinely available on the National Health Service (NHS) in England.

"Biologic treatments, such as dupilumab, which target one of the dominant underlying causes of severe asthma, can transform outcomes for people with severe asthma"Severe asthma affects around 200,000 people in the UK, resulting in more than 77,000 patients being hospitalized each year.
