Kite Pharma and Fosun Pharma set up JV in China

Shanghai Fosun Pharmaceutical HK: 02196) and US biotech firm Kite Pharma (Nasdaq: KITE) today announced a joint venture, to be named Fosun Pharma Kite Biotechnology (subject to the approval of relevant registration authorities). Save

The JV will develop, manufacture and commercialize axicabtagene ciloleucel in China with the option to include additional products, including two T cell receptor (TCR) product candidates from Kite. Axicabtagene ciloleucel (KTE-C19), Kite’s lead product candidate, is an investigational chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy under development for the treatment of B-cell lymphomas and leukemias.

The news comes the same day that Kite announced a deal with Daiichi Sankyo (TYO: 4568) to commercialize KTE-C19 in Japan.
