Hangzhou start-up attracts $20 million in series A

Chinese gene therapy firm Kanglin Biotechnology has completed a $20 million series A financing round, with the money earmarked for KL003, an innovative treatment for blood disorders.

While the company is currently developing the molecule for beta thalassemia and sickle cell disease, the new funding will help further testing in potential new indications.

Kanglin, founded in 2015, focuses on developing gene therapies using proprietary technologies, including lentiviral and adeno-associated virus (AAV) vector platforms.
