Gilead seeks to re-enter NASH running with new combination
Promising early data on a combination treatment for non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) has been presented by Gilead Sciences (Nasdaq: GILD) at The International Liver Congress in Vienna.
A proof-of-concept study demonstrated the effects of the combination of the selective, non-steroidal farnesoid X receptor (FXR) agonist cilofexor (GS-9674), and the acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) inhibitor firsocostat (GS-0976).
The results showed improvements in hepatic steatosis, liver stiffness, liver biochemistry and serum fibrosis markers.
