US biotech giant Gilead Sciences (Nasdaq: GILD) today announced positive top-line results from four international Phase III clinical studies of a three anti-virals combination for the treatment of hepatitis C.

Gilead already leads the market for oral HCV therapies with Sovaldi (sofosbuvir) and the two-drug combination Harvoni (sofosbuvir and ledipasvir).

The studies (POLARIS-1, POLARIS-2, POLARIS-3 and POLARIS-4) are evaluating an investigational, once-daily, fixed-dose combination of sofosbuvir (SOF), a nucleotide analog NS5B polymerase inhibitor; velpatasvir (VEL), a pangenotypic NS5A inhibitor; and voxilaprevir (VOX; GS-9857), an investigational pangenotypic NS3/4A protease inhibitor, for the treatment of genotype 1-6 chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection.
