Germany gives $44 million to CARB-X fight against superbugs

The CARB-X accelerator, a project devoted to early-stage antibacterial R&D, has signed a partnership agreement with the German government to invest 39 million euros ($44 million), over four years.

CARB-X (Combating Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria Biopharmaceutical Accelerator) is a global non-profit partnership housed at the USA's Boston University.

The accelerator was founded in 2016 as a result of an extensive collaboration between public and private bodies in the UK and the USA. It is a network of 10 groups around the world which support CARB-X funded projects.
