GenSight gains 7% on Phase III trial follow-up

Shares in GenSight Biologics (Euronext: SIGHT) were 7% higher with an hour’s trading left on Wednesday.

The French biopharma, which develops gene therapies for inherited conditions that cause blindness, presented improved follow-up results at Week 72 of the RESCUE Phase III trial of GS010 in subjects whose visual loss due to 11778-ND4 leber hereditary optic neuropathy occurred up to six months prior to study treatment.

GenSight shares had plummeted in February at the first scheduled readout, at Week 48, when the primary efficacy endpoint, defined as a +15-letter difference in visual acuity improvement for GS010-treated eyes compared to sham-treated eyes at 48 weeks, was not met.
