Almirall (BME: ALM) has won European Commission (EC) approval for Ebglyss (lebrikizumab) for the treatment of adult and adolescent patients with moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis (AD), who are candidates for systemic therapy.

Shares in the Spanish dermatology specialist looked set to close around 4% higher on Friday, when the approval was announced.

The monoclonal antibody, which binds to interleukin (IL)-13 with high affinity, selectively inhibiting its downstream signaling, will be launched initially in Germany, with rollout continuing in other European Union countries throughout 2024.
