CRISPR & Bayer acquire license to cell engineering technology

Casebia Therapeutics has signed a licensing agreement to use cell engineering technology developed by MaxCyte, a privately-held American biotech firm.

Casebia Therapeutics is a joint venture between USA-based CRISPR Therapeutics (Nasdaq: CRSP) and German pharma major Bayer (BAYN: DE), to develop biopharmaceutical therapies in select disease areas.

Under the terms of the license, Casebia and its parent CRISPR will obtain non-exclusive commercial use rights to MaxCyte's cell engineering platform to develop therapies for hemoglobin-related diseases and severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID).
