BRIEF—Industry report provides overview of Australian biotech sector

Australian trade federation AusBiotech gathered for its annual meeting last week to network, collaborate and discuss sector successes and issues.

A new report, Life Sciences Sector Snapshot 2017, was discussed at the event. The report was commissioned by AusBiotech to provide a comprehensive overview of the life sciences sector within Australia.

The report shows the industry employs over 200,000 people in Australia, in over 1,500 organizations.

53% of life sciences organisations in Australia are industry-based, with 875 companies and approximately 30% of the workforce in the sector employed by industry.
