Spectrum Therapeutics, part of Canada-based company Canopy Growth, has secured a first-of-its-kind licence from the UK’s Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency, allowing it to store and distribute unlicensed medical cannabis in bulk.
The facility aims to shorten cannabis prescription fulfilment time from months to a matter of days and puts Canopy ahead of the pack in setting up serious supply and infrastructure in the UK.
Medicinal cannabis has been available in the UK as an unlicenced special for nearly 12 months, and this facility is a start in establishing an infrastructure to support supply to patients.
