Breakthrough and Fast Track designations for influenza immunotherapy

US biopharma SAB Biotherapeutics (Nasdaq: SABS) has received both Breakthrough and Fast Track designations for SAB-176 from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the past week.

SAB-176 is the company’s investigational therapeutic for Type A and Type B influenza illness in high-risk patients, including those who have anti-viral resistant strains.

News of the Breakthrough Designation led shares in the firm to close 38% higher on Tuesday.
