B-MS ups earnings forecast on back of positive 2nd-qtr results

US pharma major Bristol-Myers Squibb (NYSE: BMY) raised its earnings forecast for 2016 after reporting a 17% increase in second quarter 2016 revenues.

Total revenue of $4.9 billion was largely driven by Opdivo (nivolumab), Eliquis (apixaban), Orencia (abatacept), its hepatitis C franchise and Sprycel (dasatinib).

The company reported non-GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) net earnings of $1.2 billion, or $0.69 per share (EPS)
