US pharma giant Pfizer (NYSE: PFE) has released top-line results from the REFLECTIONS B3271002 study of its potential trastuzumab biosimilar, PF-05280014, showing it met its primary endpoint

The trial demonstrated equivalence in the primary endpoint of objective response rate (ORR) of PF-05280014 versus Herceptin, taken in combination with paclitaxel, in first line patients with HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer. ORR is defined as the proportion of patients with tumor size reduction of a predefined amount and for a minimum period of time.

Swiss pharma major Roche’s (ROG: SIX) cancer drug Herceptin generated sales of $6.5 billion last year, and its patent is due to expire in 2019.
