US President Trump insists drug prices will 'come rocketing down'

Remarks by US president Donald Trump at the swearing in ceremony of new Health and Human Services (HSS) Secretary Alex Azar confirm his administration’s determination to drastically lower the price of prescription medications in the USA.

Mr Azar’s appointment as head of the US Health and Human Services Department was confirmed by the US Senate last week, and made official at The White House earlier today.

President Trump said Mr Azar was “going to get those prescription drug prices way down as a little bit of an extra,” adding that prices were “going to come rocketing down.”
