Obamacare replacement act fails to get support, and now taken off the table

The new US President Donald Trump suffered a major defeat on Friday, as his flagship legislation to repeal Affordable Care Act, what is commonly referred to as Obamacare, failed to gain sufficient support.

As the result, the Republican House of Representatives bill on healthcare reform has been withdrawn, casting doubt on the President’s ability to get Republicans to back his other legislative goals such as tax reforms and infrastructure spending which were pillars of his electoral campaign and actions in his early days in office.

With Friday's legislative collapse, Democratic former President Barack Obama's signature domestic policy achievement, Obamacare remains in place despite seven years of Republican promises to dismantle it.
