Novartis bests Teva in draft ICER report into CGRP inhibitors

A draft report into the hotly-anticipated development area of CGRP inhibitors has been released by US cost-effectiveness watchdog the Institute for Clinical and Economic Review (ICER).

The document, which is now out for consultation, seeks to assess the comparative efficacy, safety, effectiveness, and economic impacts of CGRP inhibitors against each other and against commonly-used oral migraine preventive therapies.

Leading biologic candidates in this field are erenumab, galcanezumab, fremanezumab, and eptinezumab, developed by Amgen (Nasdaq: AMGN), Eli Lilly (NYSE: LLY), Teva Pharmaceutical Industries (NYSE: TEVA), and Alder BioPharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: ALDR), respectively.
