Flu epidemic sweeps across USA, killing 20 children

For the first time in the 13 years the current tracking system has been used, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says that the entire continental USA is experiencing widespread flu.

Last week the rate of flu hospitalizations nearly doubled compared with the week prior, US media reports, up to 22.7 people per 100,000.

Authorities also revealed that 20 children have died from the flu this season, and that 7% of senior deaths in December were attributable to the virus.
