Obesity is a huge problem in the developed world, and it’s getting bigger.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), people with a body mass index (BMI) above 25 are classed as overweight, and those with a BMI of 30 or above are obese.
By this measure, in 2016, there were almost 2 billion overweight adults in the world, of which 650 million were obese. In the USA, more than a third of adults are obese.
