BioNTech boosts COVID-19 research with new Pfizer collab

A new collaboration has been launched between New York-based Pfizer (NYSE: PFE) and German biopharmaceutical company BioNTech (Nasdaq: BNTX).

The companies have agreed a letter of intent regarding the co-development and distribution of a potential mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccine, and will start working together immediately.

The project is aimed at accelerating development of BioNTech’s potential first-in-class COVID-19 mRNA vaccine program, BNT162, which is expected to enter clinical testing by the end of April 2020.
